Background

Dr. Daniel J. Brotman is a professor of medicine at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine. His areas of clinical expertise include hospital medicine and internal medicine. 

Dr. Brotman earned his M.D. at the University of Virginia School of Medicine. He completed his residency at Johns Hopkins.

His research interests include hospital medicine, thrombosis and anticoagulation, perioperative medicine, care coordination, and readmissions

He was recognized by the Maryland Chapter of the American College of Physicians with an Outstanding Hospitalist Award in 2012, has been named a Top Doctor (hospitalist) by Baltimore Magazine multiple times since 2011, is a Fellow of the American College of Physicians (ACP), a Master in Hospital Medicine, and a member of the Miller Coulson Academy of Clinical Excellence.

  • Research in the Daniel Brotman Lab focuses on aspects of hospital medicine such as quality improvement, patient satisfaction and perioperative medicine. We recently conducted a cohort study of hypertensive African Americans to examine how access to care, treatment ambivalence and medication non-adherence affect long-term mortality.
