The surgeon, Dr. Mydlarz, explained that the biopsy on my ear (completely through my ear) was to be considered by two independent pathology labs (two labs to ensure the correctness of the reported results) in order to determine to what level the melanoma on my ear (found by my dermatologist who referred me to the Hopkins medical group) extended to the bottom of the mole that my referring dermatologist had found positive for melanoma. Dr. Mydlarz explained what the next step(s) will be In detail depending on the two pathology reports. .
