Dr. Stephen D. Sisson is a professor of medicine at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine. Dr. Sisson’s area of clinical expertise is internal medicine.
He serves as vice president of clinical operations for the Office of Johns Hopkins Physicians, and as director of the Johns Hopkins Physician Education and Assessment Center (PEAC). He is the Philip A. Tumulty Professor of Medicine.
Dr. Sisson holds a B.S. in chemistry from Duke University. He earned his M.D. (Alpha Omega Alpha, with research honors) at Tufts University School of Medicine. He completed an internal medicine internship and residency at Johns Hopkins, serving as assistant chief of service for the Barker Firm. He joined the Johns Hopkins faculty in 1996.
He served for 15 years as the associate director of the Osler Medical Housestaff Training Program.
His research interests include community outreach, medical education and ambulatory care.

- The Stephen Sisson Lab focuses on medical education, community outreach and ambulatory care. We recently demonstrated concurrent validity between performance on an ambulatory curriculum, the Internal Medicine In-Training Examination (IM-ITE) and the American Board of Internal Medicine Certifying Examination (ABIM-CE).

I feel as though the JHU is the best medical institution in the World. I feel as though I have the best doctor at JHU. Now that I am retired, I would like to relocate to my children. However, my medical Care and my doctor are too important for me to make a move.

Dr. Sisson is the VERY BEST! Proof of that is that I am willing to book an overnight hotel stay in Baltimore the night before my appointment and endure the horrific traffic between Johns Hopkins and Virginia (a 200 mile round trip) just to see this doctor.
