About Smita Jha

Background

Dr. Jha is an endocrinologist with the Johns Hopkins Community Physicians Suburban Hospital. She completed her fellowship training in Endocrinology, Diabetes and Metabolism at the National Institutes of Health with a research focus on disorders of bone and mineral metabolism primarily parathyroid diseases. 

She has authored scientific papers in peer-reviewed journals and has over 200 citations. She presents regularly at scientific conferences and was awarded the NIH Group Merit Award and the NICHD Collaboration Award for her work. She is also a recipient of the Helmsley Charitable Trust Abstract Award by Endocrine Society for her work on inpatient management of diabetes and its complications. Her article on relative decline in the use of anti-osteoporosis drugs, published in Journal of Bone and Mineral Research was awarded an Honorable Mention for the Outstanding Article of the Year Award by the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality. She has been recognized for excellence in teaching and serves as a reviewer for several scientific journals.
