Background
Dr. Cingolani is an Associate Professor at The Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine, Division of Cardiology. He earned his medical degree from Universidad Nacional de La Plata, Argentina, and completed his Internship and Internal Medicine Residency at CEMIC, Buenos Aires, Argentina, and hypertension research post-doctoral fellowship at Henry Ford Hospital, Detroit, MI. After completing his Internal Medicine Residency at The Reading Hospital and Medical Center in Pennsylvania, Dr. Cingolani joined The Johns Hopkins Hospital as a Cardiology fellow, where he remained in the Faculty after his training.
Currently, he is the Associate Director of The Johns Hopkins Hospital Coronary Care Unit, Director of the Hypertension Center and member of the Echocardiography Lab and Outpatient Cardiology Clinic. He also teaches pathophysiology to medical students.
Dr. Cingolani’s research interests focus on hypertensive heart disease and its transition to heart failure. He aims to elucidate the mechanism/s by which certain matricellular proteins present in the heart seem to play a protective role. His research is mainly supported by the National Institute of Health (NIH).
He is also the principal investigator of the DREAM study group, studying the effect of Melatonin in preventing atrial fibrillation in patients undergoing cardiac surgery.
Dr. Cingolani has been recognized by the Council for High Blood Pressure Research of the American Heart Association for his work in hypertension and is the 2011 recipient of the PJ Schafer Memorial Heart Research Award, the 2012 Michel Mirowski Discovery Fund Award, and 2013 Magic that matters Fund.

He is a confident professional in all respects. I have been a heart patient at Hopkins for over 22 years. He is among the top list of cardiologists I have seen. He ranks right up there witn [staff] In Intentional and [staff] who was my surgeon 22 years ago. I have the same confidence In him that I have In the two others. I am 85 and In large part because of this group I have survived. Put It simply he Is the best at what he does just as the other are at what they do.

I was at Hopkins consulting with [staff] about my back problems. [staff] recommended spinal surgery and due to my heart disease asked Dr. Cingolani to make a risk assessment. I have been seen Dr Cingolani due to the uncontrolled high blood pressure. For years other doctors were not able to determine the reason on the issue, and after I visited Dr Cingolani he prescribed tests that were able to show the reason of the hypertension and prescribed treatment. Now I am a whole new person. Dr. Cingolani is the best specialist and I would recommend him to anyone.
