Dr. Marjan Gharagozloo holds a PhD in immunology from the Université de Sherbrooke (Sherbrooke, QC, Canada). She has been recognized with numerous accolades including a doctoral award from the MS Society of Canada, the Best PhD Thesis award from Université de Sherbrooke, and the Best Provincial Research award from the Dean of Graduate Studies in Quebec. Her Postdoctoral Fellowship at the Division of Neuroimmunology, Johns Hopkins Medicine, centered on pioneering therapeutic strategies to control neurodegeneration in progressive multiple sclerosis (MS). Dr. Gharagozloo’s research is dedicated to unraveling the molecular mechanisms underlying chronic inflammation and neurodegeneration in the central nervous system (CNS), as well as developing innovative treatments for neurodegenerative conditions like MS. She has received the prestigious Career Transition Award from the National MS Society to investigate the role of innate immune regulator NLRX1 in glia-mediated inflammation and neurodegeneration using experimental models of MS.
