Background

Dr. Rodriguez specializes in pediatric neurosurgery at Johns Hopkins All Children's Hospital. In 2023, Dr. Rodriguez received the Armstrong Award for Excellence in Quality and Safety at Johns Hopkins All Children's.

After general neurosurgery training at the University of Michigan, Dr. Rodriguez completed a Pediatric Neurosurgery Fellowship at the University of Utah. He joined our program in 2005. In 2021, he completed a Masters of Applied Sciences in Patient Safety and Quality in Healthcare at the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health. His practice encompasses the entire range of pediatric neurosurgical problems, including hydrocephalus, spina bifida, spine, epilepsy surgery, and brain tumors. He is most passionate about decreasing complications and improving post-surgical outcomes for our patients. His efforts, together with the rest of our team, have resulted in a significant decrease in complications in our neurosurgical patients. He is a charter member of the Pediatric Crania cervical Spine Society and is the director of Patient Safety and Quality for the Institute for Brain Protection Sciences at our institution.

He is a member of the American Association of Neurological Surgeons, the Congress of Neurological Surgeons, the American Society of Pediatric Neurosurgeons, and the American Academy of Pediatrics. He is also a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons. He is fluent in Spanish.
