Originally from a small town near Albany, New York, Dr. Carrese graduated from the State University of New York at Buffalo School of Medicine. He trained in general internal medicine at Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center, then spent four years in the United States Public Health Service on the Navajo Indian reservation.
