Background

Dr. Jennifer Fundora is a neonatologist at Johns Hopkins Children’s Center. She specializes in diagnosing and treating premature babies or newborns with high-risk or complex health conditions. She has a specialized interest in neonatal intestinal injury as well as nutrition, feeding and growth.

Dr. Fundora graduated from the University of Central Florida College of Medicine. She then completed a residency in pediatrics and later a fellowship in neonatology at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine.

Research Summary

Dr. Fundora’s research interests are in neonatal intestinal injury, feeding and growth in the neonatal intensive care unit.  She studies predictors and biomarkers of neonatal intestinal injury and recovery, specifically of necrotizing enterocolitis (NEC). 

Current study topics include identifying intestinal-specific markers of NEC, increasing human milk use and evaluating markers of growth in infants with intestinal failure. Dr. Fundora also enjoys participating in resident and fellow education.
