Background

Dr. Jennifer Anders is an assistant professor of pediatrics at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine. Her area of clinical expertise is pediatric emergency medicine. Dr. Anders serves as the Pediatric Base Station Medical Director, Johns Hopkins Children's Center. She is deeply committed to the education of residents and fellows to supply high-quality practitioners to serve ill and injured children.

Dr. Anders received her undergraduate degree in mathematics from the University of Chicago. She earned her M.D. from the Mayo Clinic Medical School. She completed her residency in pediatrics and adolescent medicine at the Mayo Clinic and performed a fellowship in pediatric emergency medicine at Children’s Memorial Hospital in Chicago. Dr. Anders joined the Johns Hopkins faculty in 2005.

Prior to joining Johns Hopkins, Dr. Anders was the department head of pediatrics at the Naval Hospital Great Lakes.

She is keenly interested in several areas of research to improve emergency care of children, including acute pain assessment and treatment, and procedural sedation. Her current research studies include prehospital and inter-facility transport of children with cervical spine injury, transcriptional biosignatures of febrile infants, an electronic stethoscope to assess children with respiratory disease, and an electronic intervention to improve care of young women with pelvic inflammatory disease.

Dr. Anders was recognized with the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal. She is a member of the American Academy of Pediatrics and the Ambulatory Pediatric Association.
