Background

Dr. Edward Wright is an associate professor of urology at the Johns Hopkins School of Medicine. He serves as the Director of Urology at the Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center. His clinical and research interests are in male and female urinary incontinence, complex voiding dysfunction and pelvic genitourinary reconstructive surgery.

His specialty has less to do with surgical removal and more with mending urological body parts and restoring functionality in them. His passion for Johns Hopkins lies in the fact that it is the type of place where things can be done, and patients’ questions can be answered and solutions to their problems can be found through all of the resources Johns Hopkins has to offer.

Dr. Wright earned his M.D. from Dartmouth Medical School in New Hampshire. He completed his residency in urology at The Presbyterian Hospital in the City of New York and performed a fellowship in Urogynecology at Duke University School of Medicine.

Dr. Wright is a member of the American Urologic Association and the Mid-Atlantic Section of American Urologic Association as well as the Society for Urodynamics and Female Urology. He has been recognized with a number of awards including Winner of the Urology Chief Resident's debate New York section of the American Urologic Society at the The New York Academy of Medicine.

        I am very glad I drove from Philadelphia to see Dr Wright for a second opinion concerning urinary incontinence which began 4 years ago following prostatectomy at another prestigious institution. Dr Wright was as thorough, caring, and authoritative as I hoped he would be. And, as a retired anesthesiologist, I had high expectations. Dr Wright's clear explanations, founded on expertise and wisdom, were completely reassuring. I do not plan to have a surgical procedure, but I would certainly recommend Dr Wright to anyone and everyone.

        Dr. Wright is the best doctor of any kind I've ever had. He is kind, considerate, smart, and skilled. I love the way he collaborates with me to make care plans. He listens, explains things well and makes sure I'm at ease with anything he does. But most importantly, he is an extremely skilled surgeon who fixed a very complicated problem that no one else was eager to tackle.
