Background
Dr. Brianna Aoyama is an assistant professor of pediatrics at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine. She specializes in pediatric pulmonary medicine, including chronic lung disease of premature infants, lung disease in medically complex patients including those with ventilators and tracheostomies, aerodigestive disorders, and general pediatric pulmonary conditions.
Dr. Aoyama attended the University of Notre Dame for undergraduate studies and received her M.D. from the University of Connecticut School of Medicine. She completed her pediatric residency at Brown University/Hasbro Children's Hospital before completing her pediatric pulmonary fellowship at Johns Hopkins where she also earned her M.H.S. (Clinical Investigation) from the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health. Dr. Aoyama joined the Johns Hopkins faculty in 2022.
Her primary research interest is in the epidemiology of pediatric respiratory diseases, with a specific focus on growth and the long-term respiratory outcomes of children born preterm.
