In a note to Johns Hopkins employees, Paul B. Rothman, M.D., dean of the medical faculty and CEO of Johns Hopkins Medicine, and Kevin W. Sowers, M.S.N., R.N., F.A.A.N., president of the Johns Hopkins Health System and executive vice president of Johns Hopkins Medicine, praised the Children’s Center staff, faculty and leadership. “Our nurses, physicians and staff members are some of the most gifted and compassionate caregivers in pediatric medicine,” they wrote. “Thank you again for all that you do to improve the health of our youngest patients and the communities we serve.”

This year, five specialties placed in the top 10, and Johns Hopkins Children’s Center was one of 23 hospitals to be ranked in all 10 specialties surveyed by U.S. News & World Report. Johns Hopkins Children’s Center ranked #4 in Neurology & Neurosurgery, #7 in Urology, #10 in Cancer, #10 Nephrology and #10 in Orthopedics.

Redonda G. Miller, M.D., M.B.A, president of The Johns Hopkins Hospital; Tina L. Cheng, M.D., M.P.H., pediatrician-in-chief and co-director of Johns Hopkins Children’s Center; and David J. Hackam, M.D., Ph.D., pediatric surgeon-in-chief and co-director of Johns Hopkins Children’s Center, also applauded faculty and staff in a letter to hospital employees, noting their compassion and dedication to providing “the best medical care to fragile young patients.” “Every day, your innovative thinking pushes the boundaries of health care, greatly benefiting our patients and their families,” they wrote.

Rothman and Sowers also congratulated Boston Children’s Hospital on its #1 ranking this year.
