Mitra Gavgani Appointed President of Johns Hopkins Care at Home

Mitra Gavgani, Pharm.D., has been named president of Johns Hopkins Care at Home, an organization of Johns Hopkins Medicine made up of three Medicare-certified home health agencies (two adult and one pediatric), two private duty companies, a home medical equipment company, and community, specialty and infusion pharmacy services. Her appointment is effective immediately.

Dr. Gavgani has more than 20 years of leadership experience with Johns Hopkins Care at Home, and she has held the position of interim president since 2023, leading strategic planning, vision and budget design for the organization. She has also led such projects as reimagining and aligning Johns Hopkins Care at Home shared services, site-of-care optimization and standardization of infusion services and de-escalation training to enhance the safety and security of staff in the community.

As president, Dr. Gavgani will be responsible for guiding the strategic direction and day-to-day oversight of the administrative, clinical, quality, regulatory, customer service and fiscal affairs of Johns Hopkins Care at Home, as well as for all Johns Hopkins Medicine outpatient retail pharmacies. Dr. Gavgani has served as the chief operating officer and vice president of pharmacy services and clinical operations for Johns Hopkins Care at Home since 2022 and 2017, respectively.

A respected thought leader, Dr. Gavgani serves on the board of the National Home Infusion Foundation and the organization’s Infusion Journal editorial advisory board. She has also held several leadership roles with the Maryland Board of Pharmacy, including serving as the board’s president from 2015 to 2018. She received her Doctor of Pharmacy degree from Howard University.
