BALTIMORE, MD – The Johns Hopkins Hospital is proud to be ranked #5 in the nation out of more than 4,500 hospitals reviewed for U.S. News & World Report’s 2022–23 Best Hospitals list, which was released today.
The publication also ranked 10 specialties at Johns Hopkins among the top 10 in the nation, with one — Rheumatology — ranking #1 for the 18th year in a row. The hospital has been designated as one of the top five hospitals in the nation for all 33 years of the U.S. News and World Report rankings.
In a congratulatory video message to staff members, Redonda Miller, M.D., M.B.A., president of The Johns Hopkins Hospital, highlighted the hospital’s long tradition of excellence in patient care — dating back to the day the hospital opened its doors in 1889 and redefined medical care in the United States.
“You have remained wholeheartedly focused on ensuring that our patients receive the best possible care,” she said. “Nearly every day, our patients send letters and emails that start by praising your incredible lifesaving skill. Then they take the narrative one step further. What made their care even more special, they say, were the extra touches — moments of compassion and understanding that helped them heal.”
In a note to all Johns Hopkins Medicine employees, Theodore DeWeese, M.D., interim dean of the medical faculty and CEO of Johns Hopkins Medicine, and Kevin Sowers, M.S.N., R.N., F.A.A.N., president of the Johns Hopkins Health System and executive vice president of Johns Hopkins Medicine, noted the breadth of work that went into achieving this honor.
“We’re extremely honored to receive this recognition, and owe it all to everyone who supports our mission, including the nurses, residents and physicians who deliver care at the bedside; the technicians, environmental care associates and other team members who help ensure a safe, sanitary environment for healing; and the researchers who seek ways to improve treatments with science.”
