What: Johns Hopkins Medicine’s A Woman’s Journey will host a virtual webinar featuring experts who will share insights about the latest information on COVID-19 vaccines, brain health and chronic inflammation. 

Why: This briefing will provide an opportunity to hear from Johns Hopkins physicians about discoveries and innovations regarding the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of COVID-19, chronic inflammation and neurologic problems. Through health education, A Woman’s Journey empowers women to make the most effective health decisions.

Who: Speakers:  Lisa Christopher-Stine, M.D., M.P.H., rheumatologist and director of the Johns Hopkins Myositis Center, will discuss chronic inflammation, which is at the root of many ailments from cancer, heart disease and arthritis to autoimmune disease and dementia. She will also address strategies to reduce the impact of inflammation on our health. Justin McArthur, M.B.B.S., M.P.H., director of the Johns Hopkins Department of Neurology, will talk about cutting-edge advances in neurology, new classes of medications, gene therapy and CRISPR (clustered regularly interspaced short palindromic repeats) gene editing, which may treat neurological disease including paralyzing disorders. Anna Durbin, M.D., professor at the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health, will discuss new variants of SARS CoV-2 (the virus that causes COVID-19), vaccine safety and availability, and vaccine trials involving children.
