African American church leaders have partnered with Johns Hopkins Medicine to bring vaccine clinics to their neighborhoods. The initiative will launch this Saturday, March 27.

What: Media are invited to attend the event, take photos, film b-roll and and interview community members and church leaders.

As COVID-19 vaccines become more widely available, vaccine appointments become more and more scarce. People have turned to tedious methods like camping out in front of their computers and spending hours on the phone to snag the elusive spots. In communities hit hardest by the pandemic, the need is greater, and yet they may face additional barriers to accessing the vaccines. For many, the Black church is the bedrock of the community and a trusted and critical source for resources. Community vaccination clinics such as this are imperative to ensuring vaccine equity and expediting vaccinations.

Johns Hopkins Medicine is conducting comprehensive vaccination clinics across Baltimore City and Washington, D.C., in partnership with a variety of organizations to equitably provide COVID-19 vaccines to the most vulnerable populations, including our older residents and individuals with disabilities.
