A group of distinguished visitors from around the world, including clinicians, law enforcement officials and researchers, will visit Suburban Hospital’s Addiction Treatment Center to observe how the center is dealing with opioid drug addiction and abuse. Opioid abuse is a major health problem and health officials are struggling to identify effective ways to combat the international epidemic.

Participants in the conference come from several countries, including Afghanistan, Bulgaria, Lithuania, Nigeria, People’s Republic of China, Russia and others. Their visit is sponsored by the U.S. State Department under the auspices of its International Visitor Leadership Program.

Suburban Hospital’s Addiction Treatment Center is located at 6001 Montrose Rd, Suite 203, Rockville, MD. The event, scheduled for Friday, March 29, will begin at 2 p.m. and end at 4 p.m.

Beth Kane-Davidson, LCADC, directs Suburban Hospital’s Addiction Treatment Center, and has more than 30 years of experience in the addiction treatment field. She will share successes in combating the scourge of drug abuse, showcase patients who have broken their addiction to drugs and family members whose support was crucial to their success. “I am honored that the State Department chose Suburban Hospital’s Outpatient Addiction Treatment Program to be part of the educational tour for public health leaders from around the world to learn how the U.S. is addressing drug addiction and the ongoing opioid crisis,” said Kane-Davidson.

Suburban Hospital’s Addiction Treatment Center offers a comprehensive program for counseling and education to those suffering from substance abuse disorders as well as a broad range of services for adolescents and adults with substance abuse disorder, including:
