Every day, about 20 lives are lost waiting for a lifesaving organ. The Flags Across Maryland campaign is designed to bring greater awareness to the plight of the nearly 3,000 people in Maryland on the waiting list for organ transplants. Donate Life flags will fly at venues across the state as part of a program sponsored by The Living Legacy Foundation, Maryland’s organ procurement organization, and Donate Life Maryland, which promotes the registration of organ donors.

What:
A brief flag-raising ceremony to celebrate the lives of organ recipients and the courage of organ donors.

Who:
Remarks by Jacqueline Garonzik Wang, M.D., Ph.D., assistant professor of surgery in the Division of Transplant Surgery at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine. Organ recipients and organ donor families will attend and will be available to share their stories.
