Uma Perni Joins Maternal-Fetal Medicine Team

Uma Perni, M.D., M.P.H., joined the All Children’s Specialty Physicians team as a maternal-fetal medicine specialist in the Johns Hopkins All Children’s Maternal, Fetal & Neonatal Institute in St. Petersburg, Florida. Her clinical interests include prenatal diagnosis, maternal medical complications and hypertensive disorders of pregnancy. She sees patients at Orlando Health Bayfront Hospital Center for Women and Families, HCA Florida Hospital Brandon and MCR Health in Bradenton.

She was previously vice director and section chief of obstetrics in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at Hillcrest Hospital, assistant professor of OB/GYN and reproductive biology at Cleveland Clinic Lerner College of Medicine of Case Western Reserve University, and assistant program director of the Maternal-Fetal Medicine Fellowship at Cleveland Clinic Women’s Health Institute.

Perni earned her medical degree from Jefferson Medical College in Philadelphia. She completed her residency in obstetrics and gynecology at MCP/Hahnemann University Hospitals (now Drexel University) in Philadelphia. She completed the Empire Clinical Research Investigator Program at Weill-Cornell/New York Hospital in Queens, New York, followed by a maternal-fetal medicine fellowship at University of Michigan Health Systems in Ann Arbor. She then completed the T32 Research Training Program at University of Michigan Health Systems.

She also earned her Master of Public Health in epidemiology from the University of Michigan.
