It’s a rite of passage and one of the most exciting days in the lives of graduating medical students. On March 15, 111 school of medicine students gathered with friends and family in the Armstrong Medical Education Building to learn where they would be matching for residency. “No matter where we go next, I am confident that we will continue to grow into the amazing physicians and individuals that we’re meant to be,” Carolina Lopez-Silva told her classmates before they all opened their match envelopes. “If I had to do it all over again, I would always choose to come here to share this dream with you.” The Class of 2024 matched in residency programs encompassing 20 states and Canada in over 20 specialties. More than one-quarter (27%) of students are staying at Johns Hopkins for their residencies.
