Suburban Hospital once again joined other hospitals in the Johns Hopkins Health System to participate in National Prescription Drug Take Back Day in April and October. This event provides community members with a way to safely dispose of unwanted medications, e-cigarettes, vape pens and sharps (injection needles). PFAs joined Suburban staff members in volunteering during these contactless events — people could drive to the front of the emergency department and drop off medications without leaving their car.

Large numbers of community members participated in each drug take back day, and the remarkable quantity of material received demonstrated the need for the service.
