Point of Honor
The Johns Hopkins Hospital has been named an Honor Roll hospital in U.S. News & World Report’s 2023–24 Best Hospitals list, which was released in August and is composed of the 20 top-ranked hospitals in the nation among 4,500 reviewed by the publication.
For the first time in the history of the Best Hospitals list, U.S. News chose not to assign individual ranks to the top 20 hospitals.
Johns Hopkins Medicine leaders applauded this year’s change. Johns Hopkins and other peer hospitals and health systems in the United States have been concerned for many years that the methodology U.S. News uses to rank hospitals does not fully reflect the overall quality of care provided for patients, said Theodore L. DeWeese, interim dean of the medical faculty and CEO of Johns Hopkins Medicine, and Kevin Sowers, president of the Johns Hopkins Health System and executive vice president of Johns Hopkins Medicine, in a communication to Johns Hopkins Medicine employees that announced the honor.
