Manuel (“Manny”) Monroy-Trujillo, M.D., will become the director of interprofessional education (IPE) and interprofessional collaborative practice (IPCP) for the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine effective April 1. Dr. Monroy-Trujillo is an assistant professor of medicine in the Division of Nephrology, director of the highly regarded Organ Systems Foundations of Medicine renal course for year 2 medical students and associate director of the nephrology fellowship program.
As director of IPE and IPCP, Dr. Monroy-Trujillo will work closely with the associate dean for undergraduate medical education, the senior associate dean for graduate medical education, and other health professions IPE leaders. He will collaborate with clerkship, residency, and fellowship program directors and learners to create general and discipline-specific opportunities to hone IPCP skills. Dr. Monroy-Trujillo will also collaborate with partners at other professional schools, including the Johns Hopkins University School of Nursing, the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health, and the Notre Dame of Maryland University School of Pharmacy, in developing and executing IPE activities. Additionally, he will collaborate with the appropriate clinical units, residency and fellowship programs, hospital and nursing leadership, directors of patient care services, and other clinical sites and directors to encourage development of learners’ IPCP skills.
