Sam O’Leary, R.N., Receives the DAISY Award
Sam O’Leary, an R.N. in the peri-anesthesia care unit, is the DAISY Award recipient. She was nominated for this honor by a parent who wrote:
“Sam always goes above and beyond when caring for my daughter. She’s attentive and helps keep our thoughts off of upcoming procedures. My daughter doesn’t easily open up to people, but enjoys Sam so much that she colored her a picture. Sam made our day by acting surprised and overly gracious about this gesture. In return, Sam gave her a special doll. She loves dolls – it made her feel happy and loved. Sam is focused on our daughter before and after surgery, and as a mom, her attentiveness, professionalism and genuine care speak volumes.”
Sam’s manager added:
“Sam has been part of All Children’s for over a decade. During her tenure she has worked in the CVICU, pre-op, and for the last several years in the peri-anesthesia care unit in the Heart Center. Sam is the definition of a team player and advocate for patient safety. She is always willing to jump in and help with a smile on her face. Our patients and families adore her – she is instrumental in the work we do. Sam is dedicated to her role, the children we serve and our team. We are extremely lucky to have her. This award is well-deserved.”
Congratulations, Sam, and thank you for your commitment to patient- and family-centered care.
