What attracted you to the field of ophthalmology?
During optometry school, my rotations in the ophthalmology clinics were the most engaging, as I enjoyed the cases and the pace.
What are your research interests?
I want to focus on dry eye research. In particular, I am interested in examining the subtypes of dry eye among ethnic groups and in finding effective therapies to alleviate symptoms.
What drew you to the Wilmer Eye Institute?
During my residency at the Baltimore Veterans Affairs Medical Center, we rotated through Wilmer’s refractive surgery and cornea services. I was impressed by the groundbreaking research and education that facilitated unparalleled patient care. Following my residency, I chose to work at a private ophthalmology practice to gain clinical experience, and I was drawn back to utilize my experience to contribute and collaborate with Wilmer’s ongoing advances in eye care.
Where do you see opportunities for advancement or innovation in your specialty?
There are great opportunities to utilize technology to refine our diagnostic tools and customize treatment options for patients with dry eyes.
Is there anything else you’d like others to know about you or your work?
I am delighted to be back at the Wilmer Eye Institute and I look forward to continuing the work of advancing eye care alongside my esteemed colleagues.
