For precision medicine research to realize its potential, investigators need to convert data insights into clinical applications that can help tailor care plans for patients and predict treatment outcomes.
The Technology Innovation Center helps investigators and care providers turn research into medical devices and calculators that can be used on units and in practices across the health system. Precision medicine tools created with support from the center include Active Care, an algorithm that helps Johns Hopkins care providers predict health outcomes for prostate cancer patients and tailor their treatment options accordingly, and EpiWatch, a mobile application for smartphones that helps patients and their Johns Hopkins providers manage epilepsy symptoms.
