Meet Our Team

Tailored Cancer Treatments

Our fellowship-trained medical and radiation oncologists, and surgeons, as well as nurses and other musculoskeletal clinicians and caregivers, work together to support each patient’s experience. New patients can meet with several members of the care team through a multidisciplinary clinic and have access to innovative clinical trials. Our experts also participate in a weekly sarcoma tumor board conference to discuss new patient cases with additional experts at East Baltimore campus. Each patient participates in forming an individualized care plan that maximizes the opportunity for a successful outcome.
Many bone and soft tissue sarcomas occur in children and young adults. For these cases, our program also works with colleagues at Children’s National Medical Center in Washington, D.C., to jointly manage patient care.

Novel Treatment Options

Our bone and soft tissue cancer experts offer a range of treatment options, including chemotherapy, radiation and surgery, as well as immunotherapy and novel treatments through clinical trials.

Some sarcomas may benefit from proton therapy, which uses high-energy beams to deliver radiation. The Johns Hopkins Proton Therapy Center at Sibley Memorial Hospital is one of the largest and most advanced centers in the U.S., with three treatment rooms and advanced pencil beam technology to “paint” tumors with cancer cell-killing proton energy layer by layer, sparing surrounding tissues and vital organs. Patients can receive all of their care at locations within the greater Washington region.

Patient Support Services

Beyond medical treatment, our program has other innovative methods of supporting our patients. See our Center for Patient and Family Services page for information about social work, survivorship, patient navigation, spiritual support and other services, or call 202-537-4107.Programs offered for cancer survivors include classes in yoga, meditation and mindfulness, reiki and art therapy. We also host a prostate cancer support group and an annual prostate cancer symposium at Suburban, as well as caregiver support groups and other services. Many options have been moved to online resources during the COVID-19 pandemic
