Pulmonary Medicine Social Work

Pulmonary social workers are knowledgeable of the needs of a child diagnosed with a variety of lung and breathing disorders. They are available to provide education, support and information related to this service.

Referrals come from a variety of sources, including patients, families, and hospital staff. A physician’s order is not required.

Social Work Services may include but are not limited to:

  • Assisting children and their family adjust to hospitalization
  • Patient and family advocacy
  • Coping strategies to assist the child and family manage stress associated with their diagnosis
  • Identifying resources to assist the child and his family
