Harriet Lane Clinic

For more than a century, the Johns Hopkins Children’s Center Harriet Lane Clinic (HLC) has provided primary health care services to the East Baltimore community. As the nation’s first pediatric hospital affiliated with an academic research institution, it has evolved to become a widely recognized community-engaged model for training future pediatricians.

The HLC currently serves as the medical home to more than 7,000 children and families. Its mission is to improve health outcomes and quality of life by comprehensively addressing both medical and social needs, while also providing top-notch education to pediatric residents, medical students and other child health professionals.

The HLC has received national recognition as a premier site for pediatrics training and a comprehensive medical home for families. In 2013, the clinic received the national Academic Pediatric Association Health Care Delivery Program Award, which recognizes one clinical program for innovation and effectiveness in pediatric care and teaching.
