GIM Fellowship Hospitalist Research Track
Overview
In 2008, the Hopkins GIM Fellowship opened a track especially designed for internists committed to a research-oriented career in academic hospital medicine. This NIH-funded training program provides hospitalists with the intensive methodological training and mentored research experience required to succeed as grant-funded clinician-investigators in clinical, health services or quality improvement research.
Full-time fellowship training can ensure a successful career as an academic hospitalist because it provides the dedicated time needed to learn rigorous scientific methods, collaborate with clinical, research and community faculty, and prepare competitive early career development funding applications--investments that can launch a career and ultimately lead to positions of academic leadership.
Eligibility
Candidates must have completed an ACGME-accredited internal medicine residency and be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident of the United States.

Two or three years

- Clinical epidemiology

- Comparative effectiveness research
Clinical Duties
20% of Fellows’ time is allocated to clinical activities on the Hospitalist Service at Johns Hopkins Hospital. Fellows’ remaining time will focus on pursuing coursework or research activities.
Salary
Fellows will receive stipends that reflect NRSA guidelines.
