    This fellowship is offered jointly by the Transfusion Medicine Division and Hemapheresis and Transfusion Support (HATS) of The Johns Hopkins Hospital Department of Pathology, with rotations at the American Red Cross blood services headquarters in Baltimore, the Immunogenetics Laboratory of the Johns Hopkins Department of Medicine and the Cellular Therapy Laboratory of the Johns Hopkins Sidney Kimmel Comprehensive Cancer Center. A clinically oriented research project is an integral part of the first year and may be continued during the optional second year. The second year prepares the fellow for an investigative career in transfusion medicine.

    Founded in 2008, the TOID Fellowship seeks to expand institutional expertise and train the next generation of providers in clinical and academic activities focused on infectious complications in transplant (solid organ and stem cell) and oncology patients. Since its development, Johns Hopkins has been recognized as a primary training site for TOID, and has hosted numerous visiting clinicians, clinical fellows, medical students, and undergraduates for electives in the subspecialty, from both US and international hospitals.

    The Division of Gastroenterology and Hepatology at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine offers Accreditation Council of Graduate Medical Education-accredited transplant hepatology fellowship training for those who want to gain expertise in the management of patients with liver disease, including the selection and management of patients for liver transplantation.

    The program is accredited by the American Society of Nephrology and American Society of Transplantation (ASN/AST) since 2003 and complementary to the ACGME-accredited general nephrology fellowship.

    The program is of one year duration.  Interested and qualified individuals may seek additional training in Transplant Nephrology-related research beyond the one-year clinical fellowship.

    The two-year transplantation fellowship is open to surgeons who have completed the Johns Hopkins or another approved general surgery training program. Fellows completing this program will have experience in adult renal, pancreatic and hepatic transplantation, as well as pediatric renal and hepatic transplantation.

    Our fellowship is dedicated to training physicians for leadership roles in the academic practice of female pelvic medicine and reconstructive surgery. The program includes the highest level of clinical training in the evaluation and management of complex pelvic floor disorders, preparing fellows to serve their patients and colleagues as expert consultants. We also emphasize enhancing fellows’ skills related to educating future generations of physicians and fostering the expertise and knowledge needed to conduct high-impact research.

    The ocular immunology and uveitis fellowship was established in 1989 and participates in the ophthalmology fellowship match program. This fellowship program offers one year of clinical training devoted to the medical and surgical management of uveitis and related ocular inflammatory diseases. An optional second year devoted to research pursuits is available. In addition, there is an option for extensive training in clinical research leading to an advanced degree, which can be funded through a K award from the National Eye Institute.

    The fellowship program in vascular neurology affords extensive experience in clinical vascular neurology as well as clinical research training. A one-year fellowship position will be offered with rotations in the 24-bed neuro critical care unit, the inpatient stroke unit and stroke service, the stroke consultation service, and inpatient rehabilitation ward. In addition, the fellow will have increasing responsibility during the year for supervising the Acute Stroke Team, managing an array of available diagnostic imaging techniques, directing IV thrombolysis and assisting with acute endovascular interventions.
