We provide a range of diagnostic services including:

  • Amniocentesis: A procedure to obtain genetic information about a developing fetus by collecting a sample of amniotic fluid. 
  • Combined First-Trimester Nuchal Translucency Screening: A noninvasive fetal screening test for Down syndrome and Trisomy’s 13 and 18. 
  • Doppler ultrasound: An imaging procedure that measures blood flow in different parts of your fetus’ body. 
  • 3-D and 4-D digital ultrasound: Imaging procedures that scan for abnormalities and provide information on fetal anatomy and growth.

Meet Our Team

Edmund F. Funai, M.D.

Dr. Funai is a maternal-fetal medicine specialist in the Johns Hopkins All Children’s Hospital Maternal, Fetal & Neonatal Institute. He sees patients at All Children’s Specialty Physician Maternal Fetal Medicine in Trinity, Florida. He joined the hospital staff in 2024. 

He has held leadership positions at NYU and Yale, and for a time was dean of Ohio State's medical school while also serving as chief operating officer of its five hospitals. At the University of South Florida, Dr. Funai served as chief operating officer of USF Health and vice dean at the Morsani College of Medicine.

Dr. Funai has been continuously named to numerous "Best Doctors" lists, including those published by Castle-Connolly since 2007. His research interests include hypertension in pregnancy and patient safety. His patient safety work has been recognized with the Award for Research Excellence by the Society for Maternal-Fetal Medicine. He has more than 100 publications in peer reviewed journals, numerous chapters in prestigious textbooks, and 120 presentations at national meetings. He has also edited a textbook in high-risk obstetrics and his research has been funded by the National Institutes of Health.

Dr. Funai is a cum laude graduate of the University of Notre Dame, and earned his medical degree from New York Medical College, where he was elected to Alpha Omega Alpha, the medical school honor society. He completed his residency at Lenox Hill Hospital in New York City and a fellowship in maternal-fetal medicine at NYU School of Medicine.
