Johns Hopkins All Children’s Hospital Pharmacy Residency Program has a highly qualified, experienced, and dedicated group of preceptors to assist you in becoming a skilled pediatric clinical pharmacist. This flexible program will allow you to tailor your residency to fit your interests and professional goals.

Residency Program Structure

The PGY2 Pediatric Specialty Residency at Johns Hopkins All Children’s Hospital is a 12-month, ASHP accredited program, which offers an ideal balance of five required core pediatric rotations and four elective rotations throughout the year. Required rotations include General Pediatrics, Antimicrobial Stewardship, Neonatal Intensive Care, Critical Care, and Hematology/Oncology. Elective rotations are available in a variety of subspecialty areas and tailored to fit the strengths and interests of the resident. Required rotations are 5 weeks in length with the exception of Oncology, which is 4 weeks. Elective rotations are 4 weeks in length. Longitudinal rotations are yearlong in length.

Program Benefits

  • Resident stipend: $58,656 annually
  • Work environment: office with personal work area, desktop computer with 2 monitors, workstation on wheels (WOW), desk and smartphone, access to appropriate technology and references, including an annual subscription to Lexicomp Pediatric Drugs Mobile App
  • Paid Time Off (PTO)
    • 8 hours are accrued every 2 weeks (can be used for vacation, personal and sick days)
    • Vacation days should be taken during an elective or project month and should be requested as soon as the need for time off is determined. All vacation days must be approved by the rotation preceptor and the RPD prior to making travel arrangements.
    • PTO days must be utilized for personal interview days
    • PTO may not be taken the last week of the residency
    • Up to 10 Education days may be utilized for attendance at required conferences
    • In addition, JHACH provides a total of 7 paid fixed holidays per calendar year. These include New Year’s Day, Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Day, Martin Luther King Jr. Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, and Labor Day.
      • Holidays which fall on Saturday will be observed on the preceding Friday, and holidays which fall on Sunday will be observed on the following Monday.
      • Residents must work one major holiday and one minor holiday.
  • Travel Expenses
    • The resident is provided funding for attendance at the ASHP Midyear Clinical Meeting and the Pediatric Pharmacy Association (PPA) Annual Meeting.
    • The resident is responsible for meeting registration, flight, and hotel reservations.
    • Travel should be coordinated with the Pharmacy Administrative Coordinator.
    • To obtain reimbursement after conference attendance, the resident must submit all expense receipts to the Pharmacy Administrative Coordinator.
