The PGY2 Pediatric Pharmacy Residency at Johns Hopkins All Children's Hospital is a 12-month, ASHP Accredited program designed to foster the development of the clinical skills and knowledge base necessary to provide comprehensive pharmaceutical care to pediatric patients. Pharmacists completing this program will have made great strides in their professional development and be capable of functioning with a high level of maturity, leadership and professionalism in their chosen pediatric pharmacy career path. The PGY2 Pediatric Pharmacy Residency is designed to transition PGY1 residency graduates from generalist practice to specialized practice focused on the care of pediatric patients. Residency graduates are equipped to participate as integral members of interdisciplinary teams caring for pediatric patients, assuming responsibility for pharmaceutical care. Groomed for practice leadership, exiting residents have been trained to assume responsibility for identifying and implementing opportunities to improve the medication-use system in pediatric practice areas and are expected to continue their pursuit of expertise in practice.
Residents are expected to be actively involved as a multi-disciplinary committee member and in many other activities such as cystic fibrosis PK program, medical emergency team member, pharmacy & therapeutics committee member, medication use evaluation, formulary monograph, pharmacy operations/clinical practice (providing service one weekend every four weeks), and formal research project.
