Practice Group Leader and Chief Legal Counsel for Florida Affairs
Vickie Williams, J.D., serves as practice group leader and chief legal counsel for Florida Affairs in the Johns Hopkins Health System Legal Department. She provides strategic advice and legal counsel as a member of the Johns Hopkins All Children’s executive team. She also oversees all legal work for Hopkins’ Florida-based interests in collaboration with counsel at the system level. Williams joined Johns Hopkins All Children’s in 2021.
Williams was previously senior counsel with CommonSpirit Health’s Regulatory and Legal Compliance Center of Excellence. Before that, she was senior operations counsel with CommonSpirit’s subsidiary CHI Franciscan in Tacoma, Washington, where she advised on a wide variety of health law topics. Williams was also the legal adviser to the CommonSpirit National Physician Enterprise Group, where she advised leadership on physician compensation arrangements. Before joining CommonSpirit Health, she was an associate professor of law and the associate dean of Academic Affairs at Gonzaga University School of Law in Spokane, Washington.
Williams has published in The Yale Journal of Health Policy, Law, and Ethics; the Nebraska Law Review; the St. Louis University Journal of Health Law and Policy; Jurimetrics and the Fordham Urban Law Journal. Williams was previously a shareholder at the law firm of Bennett Bigelow and Leedom, PS, in Seattle, Washington, where her practice focused on health care fraud and abuse and health care reimbursement. Before that, she was a general litigation associate at Perkins Coie in Seattle. She was a board member and then president of the Washington State Society of Healthcare Attorneys.
Williams earned her Bachelor of Science degree in geology from Tufts University, and her J.D. from New York University School of Law.
