Michelle L. Glennon, Esq., serves as the Interim Vice President for Development and Alumni Relations at Johns Hopkins Medicine providing strategic leadership and direction for private sector fundraising in support of Johns Hopkins Medicine’s clinical departments, the Institute for Basic Biomedical Science, the School of Medicine and four partner hospitals. The Fund for Johns Hopkins Medicine (FJHM) consists of 180 team members and raises approximately $350 million annually. FJHM is part of the overall Development and Alumni Relations (DAR) team for Johns Hopkins University, and Ms. Glennon is a member of DAR’s Executive Team providing leadership and strategic oversight for all development activities including comprehensive campaigns.

Ms. Glennon has been a member of DAR for over 22 years. Prior to her appointment as Interim Vice President, Ms. Glennon served for over nine years as the Associate Vice President for FJHM. In that role, she was directly responsible for supervising approximately three-fourths of the departments and employees of FJHM, partnering with the Vice President to lead the overall strategic direction of the program, and representing medicine on the DAR Executive Team. During her tenure as Associate Vice President, the Rising to the Challenge Campaign successfully raised a record-setting $6 billion including $2.86 billion for Johns Hopkins Medicine.

Ms. Glennon is part of the faculty for the Johns Hopkins Medicine Philanthropy Institute. The Institute strives to elevate medical development through advanced professional training and research. She was part of the Institute’s committee to develop guidelines for ethical issues related to grateful patient fundraising which has published several articles including, Ethical Issues and Recommendations in Grateful Patient Fundraising and Philanthropy in Academic Medicine.

From 2007 to fall 2014, Ms. Glennon was the Senior Director of Gift Planning and Senior Philanthropic Advisor for Johns Hopkins University and Medicine, leading the team to raise over $420 million. She developed and implemented the strategic plan for gift planning’s role of 20% in the Rising to the Challenge campaign and launched both the Johns Hopkins Donor Advised Fund and the Johns Hopkins Legacy Society.

Ms. Glennon joined the Johns Hopkins Office of Gift Planning in 2001 from the advancement team at Loyola University, Baltimore, her undergraduate alma mater. She received her J.D. magna cum laude from the University of Baltimore School of Law, and prior to her development career, practiced law with Ober|Kaler, a national firm based in Baltimore/D.C. Michelle, husband Garret, and their two daughters live in Towson, MD. She enjoys volunteering at her church, daughters’ schools and a local community children’s theater.
