Maria Harris Tildon, J.D.
Vice President, State and Local Affairs
Maria Harris Tildon is vice president for government, community and economic partnerships for Johns Hopkins University and Johns Hopkins Medicine where she spearheads Johns Hopkins’ legislative, regulatory and community engagement, including our signature economic inclusion initiatives in Maryland, Washington, D.C., Virginia, and Florida. In this role, she leads efforts to build and strengthen Johns Hopkins’ relationships with a wide variety of stakeholders, policymakers, business and community leaders, and neighborhood residents.
Prior to joining Johns Hopkins, Ms. Tildon held progressively senior leadership roles with CareFirst BlueCross BlueShield – the largest health insurer in the mid-Atlantic region. Most recently she served as executive vice president, public policy and government affairs. During Ms. Tildon’s tenure at CareFirst, she was responsible for managing marketing, internal and external communications, product development and lifecycle, and community investments and volunteering. Her previous experience includes serving in several senior roles in the Clinton administration at the U.S. Department of Commerce and practicing law at Venable, LLP, as a litigator with a focus on white collar criminal defense matters.
Ms. Tildon serves as a trustee on a number of boards of local companies and non-profits, including the Baltimore Gas and Electric Company (BGE), an Exelon Company; Baltimore Leadership School for Young Women (“BLSYW”); the Northern Virginia Chamber of Commerce; and the Advisory committee of Health Care for the Homeless. Maria earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in International Relations from Boston University and a Juris Doctorate from American University, Washington College of Law. She is a Member of the Maryland and District of Columbia Bar Associations.
