Vice President of Public Relations
As the vice president of public relations for Johns Hopkins Medicine, Kim Hoppe leads strategic proactive media relations and issues management for the school of medicine and the health system, its hospitals and other clinical care locations.
Hoppe amplifies public awareness for Johns Hopkins Medicine research, education and patient care using a systemwide integrated proactive media engagement strategy, and leads institutional preparation, management and monitoring of issues and emergency response. She led the organization’s communications response during the COVID-19 pandemic and, with her team, has been nationally recognized by industry peers for successfully implementing best-in-class communications initiatives.
Before joining Johns Hopkins Medicine in 2004, Hoppe was an Emmy-nominated journalist for 10 years, working as a senior TV news producer, medical news producer and newsroom manager at the Baltimore CBS and ABC television affiliates, and was a coordinating producer for Maryland Public Television. She earned a master’s degree in communication from The Johns Hopkins University and a bachelor’s degree in journalism from the University of Connecticut.
