Jennifer Abele, M.D., M.B.A., is vice president of regional post-acute care services for the Johns Hopkins Health System National Capital Region (NCR). She also is vice president of medical affairs and chief medical officer at Sibley Memorial Hospital.
In her post-acute care services leadership role, Dr. Abele defines the NCR strategic plan for post-acute care, including overseeing a well-established continuum of care for our patients. She is responsible for strategic direction for the Renaissance, Sibley Memorial Hospital's skill-nursing facility, as well as the residential services in Grand Oaks, the assisted living facility on Sibley's campus. She also oversees quality of care, service excellence and operational performance for post-acute and residential services in the region.
As vice president of medical affairs and chief medical officer at Sibley, Dr. Abele oversees safety and quality metrics and performance, including the hospital’s high-reliability programs. She provides leadership for the hospital's clinical programs, practices, medical teams and medical staff office.
She is a board-certified emergency medicine physician and fellow of the American College of Emergency Physicians. Dr. Abele received her medical degree from The George Washington University School of Medicine and Health Sciences and completed an emergency medicine residency program at Harbor-UCLA Medical Center. She earned her master of business administration in health care management from the Johns Hopkins University Carey School of Business.
