Courtney Cornell, M.S.N., R.N., O.C.N.

Courtney Cornell, M.S.N., R.N., O.C.N., is vice president of nursing and chief nursing officer of Suburban Hospital. She oversees all aspects of nursing for the hospital, including leading efforts for ongoing Magnet designation.

Courtney joined Suburban in 1996 as a staff nurse in the intensive care unit. Since 2003, she served as director of several inpatient units, including adult and acute medical surgical, adult surgery, orthopedics and trauma, and oncology.

Most recently, as director of nursing operations, Courtney supported inpatient and outpatient units’ operations by assisting with budget management through staffing, patient flow and utilization of space. In addition, she served on a number of key hospital-wide committees.

Courtney earned a bachelor of science in nursing from Loyola University of Chicago and a master of science in nursing leadership and management from Western Governors University. At Suburban, she was named employee of the year in 2023 and received a Daisy team award in 2019.
