Johns Hopkins All Children's Hospital Maternal-Fetal Medicine (MFM) Program

Maternal-Fetal Medicine

Johns Hopkins All Children's Maternal-Fetal Medicine (MFM) program specializes in diagnosing medical conditions before your baby is born.

If you're an expectant mother experiencing a high-risk pregnancy, you and your baby may require specialized care. At Johns Hopkins All Children's Maternal, Fetal and Neonatal Institute, our team of maternal-fetal medicine (MFM) specialists, also known as perinatologists, will be with you every step of your journey, providing expert evaluation, monitoring and advanced treatment when you need it.

Whether you see an OB-GYN affiliated with our hospital or an outside provider, the maternal-fetal medicine team will help co-manage the risks of your pregnancy through birth when our experienced neonatologists treat your newborn with the utmost care.

Why Choose Johns Hopkins All Children’s

You will have a team of specialists managing every aspect of your care. Our team of board-certified perinatologists uses state-of-the-art sonogram equipment in consultation with highly trained perinatal sonographers to make diagnoses of high-risk pregnancies. Our perinatal sonographers specialize in detailed head-to-toe ultrasound exams and are able to differentiate between standard anatomy and abnormal anatomy of the fetus.

We have extensive experience imaging conditions such as congenital diaphragmatic hernia (CDH) through fetal echocardiograms, and our sonographers can assist providers in performing ultrasound-guided procedures for fetal diagnosis.

Our MFM team also includes high-risk pregnancy nurses, genetic counselors and other specialists who work together to provide individualized care for our high-risk mothers and their babies. We have experience managing a variety of conditions in the mother and providing appropriate therapeutic procedures in utero when required. When it’s time, all high-risk babies are delivered at Orlando Health Bayfront Hospital Center for Women and Babies, located on the third floor of our hospital, in collaboration with Orlando Health Bayfront Hospital, a 480-bed acute care hospital.
