Care Where You Need It
Building on decades of pioneering research on the treatment of alcohol, nicotine, opioid, and other drug dependencies, the Johns Hopkins Center for Substance Abuse Treatment and Research is a multidisciplinary center designed to integrate and coordinate Hopkins’ substance abuse treatment services, improve the patient’s experience and track patient outcomes, and strengthen teaching and research in addictions. Johns Hopkins' long and sustained commitment to the care of people with substance use disorders in the community is the foundation for addiction research that has influenced the practice of medicine throughout the world. Our training in addictions has produced many of the leaders in the field at other academic medical centers.
Headquartered at the Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center, the Center’s substance abuse treatment programs — inpatient, day hospitals, outpatient, and community programs — are located at Bayview Medical Campus, The Johns Hopkins Hospital, and Suburban Hospital, largely in the Department of Medicine and the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences.
