  • The research in the Sarbjit Saini Laboratory focuses on IgE receptor biology and IgE receptor-mediated activation of blood basophils and mast cells. We have examined the role of IgE receptor expression and activation in allergic airways disease, anaphylaxis and chronic urticaria. Our research has been supported by the NIH, American Lung Association and the AAAAI. Our current research interests have focused mechanisms of diease in allergic asthma, allergic rhinitis and also translational studies in chronic idiopathic urticaria.

Research Summary

My research has focused on the IgE receptor activation of human basophils and mast cells. My early work focused on the mechanisms of IgE receptor regulation and I have led several translational studies in allergic subjects to better understand the role of allergen specific IgE. My recent studies focus on the mechanisms underlying chronic urticaria, where we found altered IgE-receptor signaling related to the phenotype of mast cells and basophils.

I live in a rural town in [state] where cases like mine are rare. I landed In the ER 5 times In two months, and In ICU twice. Dr Saini has so much experience and so thoroughly reviewed my case, he knew exactly what I had, prescribed the right medicines, and monitors me closely. I have not had a single episode since I came under his care. I am soooo grateful that I got into JHU and Dr. Sanini is my doctor!!!
