Our breast imaging experts specialize in both screening and diagnostic imaging services for our patients, including mammography, 3D mammography (tomosynthesis), breast ultrasound and breast MRI. Our team also performs breast biopsies as part of breast cancer diagnosis.
Our breast imaging researchers evaluate new technologies to better diagnose and treat breast tissue abnormalities. Some examples of our current research projects include evaluation of pre-operative localization techniques in the breast and axilla and evaluation of artificial intelligence applied to breast imaging triage, characterization and diagnosis.
Our team conducts more than 77,000 breast imaging exams and 5,000 interventional procedures each year.
Our screening services provide a convenient and efficient annual mammogram for women over 40, as recommended by the American College of Radiology.
For our diagnostic services, we offer state-of-the art breast imaging technology combined with expert interpretation to provide the best possible patient care.
All mammography exams from Johns Hopkins sites are read and reported by our board-certified breast imaging radiologists who use AI software as a secondary tool to improve early cancer detection and minimize recall rates.
This is an FDA-cleared AI software for screening mammograms that does not require an additional fee and is provided as part of Johns Hopkins’ commitment to providing equitable patient access to the latest technology and software. Reports and images will continue to be available on MyChart after the exam.
