Background
Dr. Thuy L. Ngo is an Associate Professor of Pediatrics at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine. Her area of clinical expertise is Pediatric Emergency Medicine.
Dr. Ngo received her undergraduate degree in chemistry with a specialization in biochemistry from the University of Virginia. She earned her D.O. from the Chicago College of Osteopathic Medicine and her M.Ed. from the University of Houston. She completed her residency and chief residency at Inova Fairfax Hospital for Children in Virginia and performed a fellowship in pediatric emergency medicine at Texas Children's Hospital/Baylor College of Medicine in Houston.
Dr. Ngo joined the Johns Hopkins faculty in 2011. Dr. Ngo’s academic interest and research revolves around medical education across all “generations” of medical training. In particular, she is interested in fostering mentor-mentee relationships and has mentored multiple medical students, residents, and Pediatric Emergency Medicine fellows. Dr. Ngo has been recognized for her teaching and mentoring efforts by both the pediatric housestaff and medical students winning the Frederick J. Heldrich, MD Award and the Alexander J. “Buck” Schaffer Award in 2014 and inducted into the Distinguished Teaching Society in 2019. She has been recognized nationally and received the Academic Pediatric Association Teaching Award in 2022. She has been inducted into the Miller Coulson Academy of Clinical Excellence in 2022.
She is a fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics.
